What to Bring

In Texas, most closings take place in the office of the Title Company handling the Escrow. If that is not workable, a mobile notary can bring the closing documents to you for an additional charge. Wherever your closing takes place, you will need to bring the following items with you:

  • Official Identification
The Escrow Officer at the Title Company must verify your identity so you will need to bring official identification. A driver license or passport is usually sufficient.

Texas Driver License

  • Funds Needed to Close
A day or two before closing you should receive a preliminary copy of your settlement statement. This document is commonly called a “HUD” because its format is regulated by the US Dept of HUD. At the bottom left side of the first page of the HUD you will find the exact amount needed to close. You will need to bring a cashier’s check for the specified amount made payable to the Title Company, or have your bank wire the funds to the Title Company in advance of the closing. Your Title Company can provide wiring instructions if you prefer the latter method.
